ABOUT THE PRINT

Trèfle’s Paradise print is a palm tree-lined postcard from the British Virgin Islands, channeling Tortola’s breezy atmosphere in its daytime bright Turquoise and neon night Black colorways.

8 QUESTIONS WITH TRÈFLE FOUNDER & DESIGN DIRECTOR KRISTIN FRAZER

We’re so glad to be working with you again—our 2021 Resort Collection collaboration was one of our faves! What has Trèfle been up to since our last chat?

Yes indeed! I absolutely loved our launch in 2021 and since then, we’ve been gearing up for our 15th anniversary with new styles, storytelling, accessories, and, of course, our new collaboration with Sea Star!

Our collaborative launch includes two gorgeous variants of Trèfle’s Paradise print, which bursts with abstracted tropical botanicals in irresistibly bright hues. How was this print developed?

I have an amazing team, and we have a formula that works for the brand in terms of creating print concepts. Paradise is actually a 4-colourway print option that was birthed out of the organic nature of relationships. There’s always a moodboard, a concept, colour variations, and layers of inspiration that all blend together well to form new prints! It’s really a magical experience that I’m happy to be able to share with my team.

From lively palettes to vacation-ready products, it’s clear that your home island of Tortola is in Trèfle DNA. For readers who are new to the brand, what motivates and inspires your designs?

As a Caribbean girl, paradise has always been around me. I’ve used this and merged it with my travels and other cultural experiences. This is what inspires many of my designs and it’s what really allows me to create beautiful prints and products that people all over the world love.

It’s an exciting time for Trèfle—congratulations on your 15th anniversary! How will the brand celebrate this milestone event?

We actually started celebrating around the beginning of the 2nd quarter of this year where we relaunched the brand with our new word and brandmark logo. This was the start of a new book for us and over the months we’ve been highlighting the experiences with our hashtag #roadtothe15th, surprising our customers with new products, events, giveaways, storytelling, and much more! This new collaboration with everyone at Sea Star is a part of this milestone and we couldn’t be happier to include you in our story!

Be our tour guide—let us know your must-experience BVI destinations!

This is where the fun really begins! First, you want to stay at one of our boutique hotels like Saba Rock, or a villa with stunning views and a tranquil space that would allow you to clear your mind before your adventures begin!

Second, it’s time for sailing! We are truly the “sailing capital of the world”, and with over 60 islands, islets, rocks, and cays, there’s no better way to experience the BVI. Sailing through our waters, snorkel, stop by a bar or two, take in the natural salt water on your body and breathe air that is pure Caribbean essence!

My third recommendation is to ensure that you get some good ol’ local food! We have local restaurants like D Coal Pot in Carrot Bay and Bananas in Cane Garden Bay. Either way, you can’t leave the island without tasting what we enjoy daily.

There’s always going to be views, and you get to take it all in through two hiking tours that we have in the BVI called Hike BVI and Eco Adventures BVI. Nothing is more breathtaking than the views in the hills. I highly recommend immersing yourself in our history and nature. It’s a perfect combination.

And finally, the BEACHES! While I recommend all of them (LOL!), you would fall in love time and time again with the famous Baths over on the island of Virgin Gorda. Second to The Baths would be Sandy Cay and Sandy Spit which are Cays in their own right. Finally, visit White Bay in Jost Van Dyke to end the day and sail into the sunset with a painkiller or a rum punch! I invite you to come and visit “Our home…your paradise.”

If we took a peek in your beach bag, what would we find?

You’ll definitely find some sunglasses, a book for reading, my beach towel, my Trèfle Eco-waterproof pouch with my mini items, and my purse/wallet.

What’s your go-to beach locale? Any shoreline destinations on your bucket list?

My favourite beach to go to would be Sandy Cay. I’ve never been to the Amalfi shoreline in Italy so it’s definitely on my bucket list.

What’s next for Trèfle?

Our #roadtothe15th ends  in the heart of Tortola, the biggest island in the BVI, on Sunday, December 3rd at a cultural and creative fashion event  called THE RUNWAY. It will showcase 60 designs from creatives within the BVI community, including the launch of our new swimwear, resortwear, and accessories collection for 2024. We can’t wait for everyone to see it!
